Our client is a fully owned Dutch subsidiary (Business Unit) of a global financial institution of Dutch origin providing a wide array of banking, insurance and asset management services in over 50 countries. The company is a division of the Wholesale banking business line and provides services in the area of financial and operational leasing and commercial finance on a European scale. It is currently one of the top-five largest lease companies in Europe, with subsidiaries in 15 countries. Headquartered in Amsterdam our client has over 2,700 employees who serve its customers within different business units.

The Dutch BU is considered to be a market authority. It is the lease specialist in assets such as buses, trucks & trailers, graphic equipment, ICT, cranes & waste, agricultural & earthmoving machines, real estate and healthcare. In addition, the vendor team specialises in setting up and managing vendor finance programs. In 2008 the Dutch BU realized a significant production growth and increased its market share in both asset and vendor finance.

 

The position - Business Development Manager Corporate Clients

MAR Recruitment Solutions has been requested to search for a Business Development Manager for the Corporate Clients Channel. The Business Development Manager will be part of the Marketing & Business Development department and has a reporting line to the Manager BD. Goal is to contribute to the further development and growth of the asset-based deal flow within the Corporate Clients channel.

He/she will be assigned to work with the Sales force to help them identify, qualify, structure, negotiate and close complex asset-based deals with (existing) corporate clients across all assets teams and industries. Potential target clients are situated in the Netherlands.

Our candidate is an all-round financial professional with experience in both high value relationship management and the structuring of project finance (cash flow) and/or asset-based facilities. He/she has the ability to align the customer’s needs with the expectations and requirements of the internal lease organization and other divisions of the wholesale organization to result in a win-win scenario.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides added value, creative solutions and expert support to the deal team
  • Manages complex sales cycles and has a track record in successful closure of assignments.
  • Facilitates the multifunctional deal team by ensuring alignment between the deal team members who have different team roles. Develops team spirit and shared commitment to achieve optimum team performance.
  • Acts as deal team captain or is sparring partner of the deal team captain, sales principals, management and all other parties involved of the internal lease organisation and other divisions of the Wholesale organisation.
  • Understands client’s needs and market trends and translates them into commercially viable opportunities.

 

Required qualifications & character profile

  • Has a minimum of 5 years commercial experience in asset based or cash flow based financing.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage high value customer relationships at senior level.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of asset-based or cash flow based financing. An expert in the structuring of complex financial deals.
  • Experience with participations and syndications is a plus.
  • A strong innovative thinker who has the ability to drive growth by developing creative solutions for customers.
  • A real team player with excellent social and communication skills. Can work efficient and effective with people. Has a good organisational sensitivity: shows awareness of formal and informal channels and the interest of various groups within the organisation. Able to work in a large and complex matrix organisation.
  • Good diplomacy and networking skills. An inspirational leader who can easily co-ordinate, convince and enthuse (virtual) teams in all parts of the wholesale organisation. Builds loyalty and commitment.
  • A self-starter and pioneer who is independent, decisive, proactive and result oriented.
  • A deep sense of ownership. You take full responsibility for, and the initiative to do what’s needed in business.
  • A creative mind who develops his/her own vision
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, strategic in thinking.
  • Has a good sense of humour.
